Morgan County, origin of the name

Morgan County, Missouri, which encompasses the Gravois Arm of the lake and part of Horseshoe Bend, was named after Daniel Morgan, a brigadier general in the Continental Army during the American Revolution. Morgan is best known for defeating a numerically superior British army at the Battle of Cowpens, South Carolina, on January 17, 1781.
